9.49pm
why you do this americka. why.super dooper long weekend about to go into full swing. i really need a break after the confinement last weekend.
the past week and a half have been shit. we're starting to get 3sg-level jobs, but instead of bringing us in slowly, they threw us out to do a live firing exercise with no help from the older specs. live firing, wtf. and for some reason i got tossed both the jobs of vehicle ic and ovm ic for the live firing, when my actual job is the statement ic.
the arrows fly. as a trainee it was chicken feet to dodge arrows. let the attention hoggers stand out while i hang at the back. keep my mouth shut and my head down. notice the danger signs that indicate the imminent arrival of a shitty job and make sure i look busy doing somehting else entirely different, somewhat timeconsuming, and totally easier.
it's not working anymore. people know my name.
THEY KNOW MY NAME. NO ONE is supposed to know my name, not until at least two months have gone by.
then, to top it off, on wednesday i got hit by COS duty. as a cos i can't dodge arrows. it's not even like dodging arrows. it's like dodging lazor beams, only you can't dodge laser beams. if i can see the beam, it's already hit. fucking speed of light. this was a horrible day because:
- it was the start of a long weekend. people would book out that night and i'd book out the next morning.
- everyone was trying to finish their work for the long weekend, and of course the helpful Chief of Saigang will get any overflowing jobs. two of such jobs include another live firing for the 84mm on friday and the navex on monday. fix your detailing? yes sir. telt these maps? plan the nds? yes sir. make 60 copies of this paper and cut them in half? yes sir. oh, the zapper's in another building across the parade square. fun.
- we needed to get some weapons that we borrowed from another company. but the paperwork wasn't done and the bigfucks who had to sign all the stuff were out that day doing compass course. so, the whole day long there loomed the prospect of a sudden shitbomb of work right before everyone was supposed to book out. i had to make sure it all went down smoothly or i'd have a whole company of people pissed at me, because no one can book out till i get the armskote settled out.
- throughout the whole day, men who had booked out for medical appointments (conveniently scheduled right before a long weekend) kept calling me to give excuses for not having to book in. also, those who had to go for the 84mm live firing on friday, thereby destroying their long weekend, kept trying to get out of it. i'd always be busy doing some stupid job and then i'd get a call along the lines of "sergeant, i'm still waiting for some form lah i dunno wad but i can't book in by the timing sir gave me and also i havent eat dinner yet and i'll take two hours to travel back to camp so there's no point for me to come back today right? oh and also during my medical appoint my specialist gave me mc for friday so please tell csm for me ok!"
- FUCK OFF AND DIE.
what a great first time being a cos.
i went out the next day to meet weijie and daniel, who was holding on to my laptop for 'security reasons'. long story. we watched bee movie, which was less funny than toy story and too preachy about bees. also, the implied girl-on-bee action was a bit too unsettling for me. i'm scared to find out if fanart has appeared yet. fanart, yes.
then we stepped out of the cinema and i met the second group of people i was supposed to watch a movie with. and by some strange twist of fate daniel, weijie, joshua and me all knew each other. small small world. we watched the game plan... i'm mildly dissappointed the rock didn't kill anything. he saved the show, though, because he's somehow really easy on the eyes and brain to watch. also, the scene where he flexes his left and right pecs alternately reminded me of the canned johnny bravo movie. why, hollywood, why?
also, i bought two packs of gingersnaps yesterday. chomp chomp chomp
